A Compassionate, Grounded Approach to Recovery

I’m Tamera Martens, a licensed addictions counselor with over 30 years of experience. I provide telehealth addiction counseling for adults struggling with substance use, gambling addiction, and internet or gaming addiction. I specialize in helping individuals address the underlying trauma that drives addictive behaviors, using evidence-based approaches including EMDR therapy, harm reduction, relapse prevention, and recovery-focused counseling. My work is direct, practical, and compassionate. I view addiction not as a personal failure, but as a coping strategy that once served a purpose—and lasting recovery begins by addressing the root causes behind it.

Care Without Insurance Limitations

Rooted in intention and long-term healing

I’ve chosen to work on a private-pay basis so I can provide thoughtful, individualized care without the limitations imposed by insurance companies. When insurance is involved, third parties often dictate treatment decisions, length of care, diagnoses, and documentation, and they don't focus on your long-term recovery or personal growth. Working outside of insurance allows me to focus fully on your goals, your history, and what will genuinely support lasting change.

Private-pay counseling also offers greater privacy and flexibility. Insurance requires formal diagnoses, detailed reporting, and ongoing justification of medical necessity, which can follow clients for years and sometimes interfere with employment, security clearances, or personal peace of mind. By not accepting insurance, I’m able to offer confidential, trauma-informed, recovery-focused counseling that respects your autonomy, protects your privacy, and allows us to work together at a pace that supports real healing—not just short-term symptom management.

You're at a Crossroad You Don't Have to Choose Alone
